In 2001, President George W. Bush passed into law, a revised tax code that reduced tax rates for Americans. Some claim that the rates favored high income earners and that such imbalance has contributed to the growing National Deficit – stifling jobs growth.
There are two sides that debate on how best to proceed. Democrats believe that ending the Bush era Tax Cuts for the higher earners would help reduce the economic uncertainty that large deficits can cause – boosting economic growth that would create jobs. Republicans, fueled by the Tea Party, claim that any changes to tax rates could diminish the outlook of wealthy business owners which could stagnate economic growth.
